Cost codes and classification systems

Classifications help you organise estimates consistently. Kwantflow supports multiple classification systems for structuring cost data.

Cost Codes

Cost codes are standardised identifiers for types of work. They help you group and report costs consistently across projects.

Common cost code systems include:

  • Australian Standard — AS 1181 series
  • Project-specific — custom codes for your organisation

Adding Cost Codes

  1. Navigate to Classifications in the sidebar
  2. Select Cost Codes
  3. Enter the code and description
  4. Save

Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)

WBS nodes let you break a project into hierarchical work packages:

├── Structure
├── Finishes
└── Services

Add WBS nodes from the Classifications section and organise them hierarchically.

Classification Management

From the Classifications view you can:

  • Add, edit, and delete cost codes
  • Create WBS node hierarchies
  • Import classification data
  • Assign classifications to record types

Using Classifications in Estimates

When generating a draft, you can assign classifications to line items. This enables:

  • Cost reporting by classification
  • Consistent coding across projects
  • Easy comparison between estimates
