Prepare a quote
The quote area brings reviewed Asset estimates together into customer-facing quote output.
This is where you decide how the pricing should be presented, not where you discover whether the estimate was ready.
Before preparing a quote
Check that:
- the RFQ details are correct
- included Assets have reviewed estimates
- business profile details are current
- customer or requester details are correct
- exclusions and assumptions are clear
Prepare the quote
- Open the RFQ quote area.
- Choose which Asset estimates to include.
- Review quote options, markups, lead time, and totals.
- Add or update notes, terms, assumptions, and exclusions.
- Save a quote revision when you need a record of the output at that point in time.
- Export or share the quote when ready.
What lives in the quote workspace
The quote workspace is where you control:
- which Asset estimates are included in the customer-facing quote
- quantity and inclusion choices for each Asset
- quote options for different commercial paths
- overall or category-specific markups
- lead time wording
- quote notes
- exported outputs such as PDF and spreadsheet exports
Quote options and presets
Use quote options when you want different commercial versions of the same reviewed estimate set.
Typical examples:
- base offer and premium offer
- standard lead time and expedited lead time
- one option with bought-out items included and another with them excluded
If you reuse the same commercial structure often, save it as a preset so it can be reused on future RFQs.
Revisions
Save a quote revision when you want a dated record of what was sent or approved at a point in time.
Use revisions when:
- the customer asks for a changed scope
- an addendum changes the offer
- the markup or lead time changes
- you need to compare what was sent yesterday with what will be sent now
Export and handover
When the quote is ready, export or share it in the format that fits the conversation.
That can include:
- a customer-facing quote PDF
- a spreadsheet export for internal review or commercial checking
- a reviewed email draft built around the current quote
Common quote scenarios
- one clear offer for a straightforward package
- several quote options for different scope or pricing paths
- a revision after customer feedback or addenda
- a polished email handover around the same quote
Before sending
Check:
- the right asset estimates are included
- the option names are understandable
- commercial notes are clear
- assumptions and exclusions are visible
- the customer-facing message matches the actual offer
- the selected lead time and markup logic match the intended option
If you want help polishing the message, use Rewrite quote emails.
Resetting the quote workspace
If the quote workspace drifts too far from what you want, reset it instead of manually undoing every commercial edit.
Resetting clears quote-workspace decisions for that RFQ, such as:
- saved estimate content in the quote workspace
- default quote option state
- inclusion choices
- quantity changes
- rounding preferences
Use this carefully when you want to rebuild the quote presentation from a clean starting point.
Expected result
You have quote output based on the estimates you chose to include.
